AutoCAD 23.0 Download [Mac/Win] 2022 [New]
The evolution of AutoCAD is as complex as the design process itself. The early AutoCAD released in 1982 had an S-100-based graphics display, which could be upgraded to a customized Vax/VMS system or a later workstation, but with no portability. The base code was Microsoft BASIC, with 3D visualization capabilities. By 1986, AutoCAD released for IBM PC DOS and later Windows-based PCs. Over the next decade, the software was ported to other platforms, including OS/2, Amiga, Atari ST, Apple Macintosh and Unix platforms. The industry standard for AutoCAD drawings is the PDF file format. In 2012, Autodesk acquired Onshape, and subsequently introduced their cloud platform Onshape Mobile for 3D modeling, analytics and app design, allowing users to create virtual models and prototypes, create high-fidelity 2D and 3D drawings and communicate their design ideas to their clients.
AutoCAD was originally developed by Paul Maglio, a product manager at Systems Development Group (SDG) in Meriden, Connecticut, along with an engineer named Scott Snell. The first version was released in 1982 as SDG’s flagship product. Paul Maglio later left SDG to found Autodesk in 1986, and Scott Snell joined the company in 1987 as its vice president for engineering.
The original AutoCAD was called Touch Designer and was developed at the Computer Software Center in Covina, California. It was written in the programming language SDL which was derived from the language SDL. When Autodesk bought Computer Software Center in 1983, Touch Designer was renamed AutoCAD.
In 1982, Paul Maglio and Scott Snell began developing a drawing program based on VMS workstations. Maglio had to develop a graphics library with 3D capabilities, while Snell developed an object-oriented drawing language. The product was ready in July 1984.
The program was named AutoCAD because it was similar to the AutoLISP-based CAD programs then used by B.E. Systems and Drawbench.
The first version of AutoCAD is referred to as Release 1. Release 2 was released in April 1986, while Release 3, released in 1988, added 3D capabilities. It is this version which defined the style for future releases.
A number of new features were added in Release 3, such as

InfoPath is an enterprise authoring tool for creating forms and web-based applications.
Until 2013, AutoCAD had only run on Microsoft Windows operating systems; AutoCAD LT can run on Mac OS X, Linux, and Windows.
Licensing and the 2013 version
The AutoCAD LT license is much less restrictive than AutoCAD. The license allows for new additions and enhancements to the product to be released for a specific number of years.
The 2013 version of AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT does not include the levels of the drawing option described in AutoCAD R2014 (and prior versions) under Drawing Permissions.
AutoCAD LT 2013, the first version of AutoCAD LT with a new licensing model, is free to academic and academic-professional users for one year; after that, the license will be available for US$2,495.
Fusion was AutoCAD’s primary product before AutoCAD LT. Fusion was the first product in the Autodesk line to incorporate advanced graphics and some unique features, including capabilities for 3D modeling, collision detection, and a native Microsoft Windows graphical user interface.
Similar to Autodesk Inventor, Fusion used the quadtree data structure to represent complex 3D objects. Fusion and Inventor both used a light cone ray tracing algorithm to display complex 3D objects, which is not supported by other CAD products. Inventor and Fusion both supported serialized object format (.SFO) files. Fusion could import and export.DWG files and.DGN files, while Inventor could import and export AutoCAD R14 files.
Fusion-based components are used in the AutoCAD Drawing Exchange Format (DXF) exchange format.
Autodesk is phasing out support for Fusion and Inventor, and has publicly stated that Fusion and Inventor will be completely discontinued in 2016.
Visualization has been added to AutoCAD as a Graphical User Interface that provides tools for drawing, creating 3D models, and viewing 3D models. It supports the same formats as AutoCAD.

What’s New in the AutoCAD?
The Postscript® 1.4 standard continues to evolve to keep pace with the needs of users of the technology.
Sharing and collaboration:
You can now share your designs with other users (teams). Now your coworkers can work on your designs, providing dynamic feedback, access to all drawings related to the design, and collaborate on the same design, by sharing a drawing link.
Emailing drawings has never been easier. Get started with your drawings in the email inbox with no additional software to download or install. Now you can use email to send and receive CAD drawings, the same way you would send and receive email.
Save time and money by easily and efficiently displaying the display format you want to use.
Graphical user interface:
This latest release of AutoCAD® is designed for users and customers who want to spend their time designing, not learning the new software. The new graphic user interface (GUI) is a complete rewrite that is more efficient and easier to use than the previous UI.
Ink and other drawing features:
With new ink and drawing tools and features, you can easily produce professional-quality drawings quickly.
Navigation and commands:
Enhance your productivity with a faster and more intuitive user interface.
Raster and vector graphics:
Import all types of raster and vector graphics, including PDF, DXF, and DWG formats.
You can now produce 3D models with 1-point and 2-point axial, triangulated surfaces, and a 2-point isosurface.
OpenGL has become more stable in AutoCAD. To see an example, see our work on the new OpenGL.
Network connectivity and driver updates:
