AutoCAD Overview

The primary purpose of AutoCAD is to create 2D and 3D drawings for architectural and engineering purposes. These drawings are used by architects, engineers, mechanical, and other drafters. AutoCAD also allows 2D drafting tasks to be accomplished. This includes, but is not limited to, architectural and engineering drawings.

To create a 3D drawing, you must open the drawing file and load the desired 3D objects. 3D objects are, in this case, 3D architectural/engineering drawings that you create with other applications. Once loaded, you can choose the “Active View”. When creating a 3D drawing, there are three views to choose from: Top, Front, and Bottom. They are all discussed in greater detail below.

When a 2D drawing is created in AutoCAD, the 2D content is loaded and “hides” the 3D content. You cannot view the 2D content until you “bring it out” by activating the appropriate drop-down menu. This menu is named “Rendering”.

When you activate the “Rendering” menu, you can select between the “Bent” and “Flat” displays. As the name suggests, Bent displays a 3D view, while Flat displays 2D drawings.

A quick way to create a 2D drawing in AutoCAD is to use the “Create Graphics” command. This menu can be found on the “Design” ribbon toolbar and has the following options: Circle, Line, Rectangle, Polyline, Ellipse, Arc, Spline, Polar, and Vector.

There are a lot of other commands you can find on the ribbon toolbar. In this case, AutoCAD is much more than just a simple 2D drafting application.

In response to the request for a thinner liquid crystal display device, the techniques have been developed in which a large-size substrate is used as a substrate for a liquid crystal display device (refer to Patent Documents 1 and 2).
FIG. 4 is a schematic plan view of a liquid crystal display device disclosed in Patent Document 1. In FIG. 4, the liquid crystal display device is formed by laminating a transparent substrate 400 and an opaque substrate 500. The opaque substrate 500 is laminated on the transparent substrate 400 with a predetermined gap. A display region D is formed in the transparent substrate 400, and a connection terminal 600a to which a driving signal is input and a connection terminal 600b which receives a common voltage or a common potential and supplies the common voltage or the common potential to the display region D are formed at the periphery of the display region D.
In such a liquid crystal display device, there has been known a technique in which a driving circuit for a pixel electrode is formed on the transparent substrate 400 and a common electrode for a common electrode to which the common voltage or the common potential is supplied and a storage capacitor electrode which is connected to the driving circuit and stores a charge, are formed on the opaque substrate 500 (refer to Patent Document 1).

Equally impressive are the changes to Markup Assist, which offers many new and improved ways to help you work faster and better. Markup Assist now imports and exports visual and textual information from Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and other text editors with the built-in “Import/Export Markup” command. Let’s face it: some 2D drawings are better than others. But when you have a working set of geometric shapes, you can create impressive designs and patterns. With the new shape editors, you can cut, paste, and reshape shapes, including circular lanes and complex arrowhead designs.

You can now control how you see a shape by moving the shape to a different layer. That lets you create a single, flowing drawing that includes multiple layers with different shapes. For example, you can draw a rectangle, put it on a layer, then create a circular lane around it.

Speaking of circular lanes, you can now create multiple lanes on the same circle—instead of just one. You can now also draw arrows and other geometric shapes, using many of the same shape editors that you use for text.

But it’s not all about drawing shapes. You can also use the shape tools to add shape information to a text or graphic that already exists in your drawing. You can import symbols from a text editor, and export the symbols to other files.

For example, you can import symbols from a text editor, and then export them to a new drawing—or even to other drawings in the same drawing file. The symbols appear on the drawing layer and, unlike blocks, you can modify them as you edit the existing text or graphic.

You can also use shape information to link two drawings together, even if the drawings aren’t in the same file. You can link a drawing to a symbol, or another layer. Or you can make a shape that connects a layer or sublayer to the first drawing in a drawing file.
